Sophomore students Ashley Hidalgo and Danielle Maggiore are now published poets. Both members of the Creative Writing Club have had their works published in the book Discovered: 2013 Poetry Collection published by The American Library of Poetry.  “I was so excited, I cried,” admitted Hidalgo. Maggiore agreed that seeing her poem published in a national publication was exciting, “I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was six years old and it finally happened!”

The girls submitted their poetry to the National Student Poetry Contest through the online application process during a club meeting in March 2013; they were notified of the acceptance of their work in August, and finally in December the book was published and sent to the girls. Both agree that this experience has motivated them to continue writing and submit their work to other publications in the hope of being published again.

Discovered will be on display in the Library Media Center during the month of January.
