The Princeton Review Comes to Hawthorne

The Princeton Review will be hosting a SAT Fundamentals Course at Hawthorne High School, from January 25 to April 26, in order to help fully prepare students for the upcoming SAT testing.

The Princeton Review is a course designed to give students the ability to achieve their best possible score through studying techniques and test-taking strategies. According to the company’s website, PrincetonReview.com, they even go as far as offering a “score higher or get your money back” guarantee.

The 18-hour course will take place on Saturday mornings. The course is taught by a Princeton Review instructor and involves four full-length, proctored SATs to help students learn to better manage their time and to strengthen their testing skills. As part of an exclusive deal, HHS students are being offered a reduced rate for the course of $499 instead of the usual $599.

Students planning on taking the SATs, which are given nationally seven times  a year, are encouraged to enroll in a course like the Princeton Review as taking the test is a stressful experience for many students, considering their test scores could potentially impact their futures.

Jennifer Basilone, the Guidance Department Director, also encourages students to take advantage of SAT prep opportunities. She says, “As a former SAT instructor/tutor myself, I have found that the constant practice and taking of the test is one of the best strategies for testing to your potential.”
