Italian Honor Students at The Met

The Italian III Honors class took a field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York City on December 6, 2013. Afterwards the group had lunch in Hawthorne at Bottagra on Wagaraw Road.

The group of 23 students was accompanied by Italian III Honors teacher Karen McSherry and chaperones Mrs. Kowalski and Mrs. Pierro. The students were divided into three groups and then explored the museum with their designated chaperone. Some of the famous art that was observed included paintings from the Italian Renaissance, Roman sculpture, Tiffany stained glass, and the famous Neapolitan Christmas tree.

Italian teacher Karen McSherry stated, “I am always happy to know that students enjoy the Metropolitan Museum of Art and want to go back on their own.”

After visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the group went to Bottagra for an authentic Italian lunch, consisting of a salad, pasta, entrée, fruit and dessert. It felt just like having a meal in Italy!

Overall, everyone who attended this field trip agreed that this experience was both fun, exciting, and educational.
