Hawthorne High School freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are preparing for district-wide state testing next week on Tuesday, March 4; Wednesday, March 5; and Thursday, March 6, 2014.
Juniors will be taking the New Jersey mandated High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA). Freshmen and sophomores will be taking the New Jersey Proficiency Assessments of State Standards (NJ Pass), in preparation for the HSPA.
Class meetings in preparation for next week’s testing will take place Friday, February 28, 2014. Juniors will be meeting in the auditorium during period four, which falls into the first time slot. Freshmen and sophomores will be meeting during period one, which falls into the second time slot of the day. The meetings are to inform students on what to expect for the upcoming week of testing.
During the three days of testing, freshmen, sophomore and junior students should report to their specified testing rooms on all three days testing days at 7:50 a.m. The testing sequence for sophomores is as follows: Tuesday, March 4, Language Arts day 1; Wednesday, March 5, Language Arts day 2; and Thursday, March 6, Math. The testing sequence for freshmen is as follows: Tuesday, March 4, Language Arts part 1; Wednesday, March 5, Math; and Thursday, March 6, Language Arts day 2.
The testing sequence for juniors is as follows: Tuesday, March 4, Math; Wednesday, March 5, Language Arts day 1; and Thursday, March 6, Language Arts day 2.
When testing is completed on all three days, students will report to a 46-minute lunch period followed by a abbreviated schedule of 26-minute classes.
