Due to the snow emergency closings, the Hawthorne School District will make up school days during spring break on April 10 and 11, 2014.
According to a memo by Superintendent of Hawthorne Schools, Dr. Jill Mortimer, found on the district website, the district has to make up these days because it has exceeded its four planned-for emergency days built into the calendar and needs to fulfill the 180 school days required by the New Jersey Department of Education.
If the district experiences any more emergency closings, Hawthorne School District will make up those days starting with the Wednesday of spring break and working backwards.
In regards to the make-up days on April 10 and 11, Hawthorne High School, which introduced a rotating drop schedule this year, will be running on a B-day schedule both make-up days, due to the fact that four of six snow days were B days.
Any questions should be directed to the Board of Education office or the building principal’s office.
