The Student Council Fall Fest

On Thursday, October 15 the Hawthorne High School student council, led by Danielle Russo and Gustav Schell, held its first ever Fall Fest and its second block party. In the previous years, student council held a typical homecoming dance, but an executive decision was made to end the dances and start the block parties back in 2014. The Fall Fest is a fun way to get together with friends and support the school, all for just $6!

Davius Bunch supplied his DJ skills and played a wide variety of pop and electronic dance music. Everyone was up and dancing at one point and there was even a dance circle going on. Besides dancing, there were games such as Kan Jam and Corn Hole. Food such as hamburgers, cheeseburgers, apple cider, doughnuts, chips, cookies, and more were served.

Schell also announced the winners for the homecoming court. Aiden Harmer and Kaylee Garcia won Lord and Lady, Rocco Pecoraro and Kayla Miller won Duke and Duchess, Brendan Rooney and Madison Noordeloos won Prince and Princess, and finally Liam Morrissey and Cielle Tousignant won King and Queen. “Liam and I joked around saying ‘imagine if we actually won’ and then when we actually did win we were so surprised and happy!” stated Queen Cielle. Student council President Leah Matari commented on the event, “We were going for a fall rustic vibe with the decorations. We wanted the students to have something fun and different to do on a Thursday night. I’m really happy with the turnout we had.”

Vice President Liam Morrissey added, “The students seemed like they had a lot of fun. The DJ was a huge hit, and so were the apple cider doughnuts.” Overall, the Fall Fest was extremely successful and will continue on for years to come.
