Mockingbird Play

Congratulations to the cast and crew of this year’s fall production, To Kill a Mockingbird. Last weekend, Hawthorne High School students put on five successful performances.  From Thursday’s opening night to Sunday’s matinee, the cast and crew really showed off their hard work.

From set changes to quick changes, the production displayed signs of professionalism throughout the shows.  It was obvious the amount of time that was dedicated to perfect the performances.  With each show having nearly a full house, the cast pushed though the nerves and showed off some incredible acting.  The students portrayed each character so wonderfully, it gave everyone watching the chills.

At the final performance, the audience was captivated by the scene with Tom Robinson, played by Will Villabon, and Mr. Gilmer, played by Brandon Parker.  Another powerful scene was the last scene between Atticus Finch, played by Daniel Cassini and Arthur”Boo” Radley, played by Chris Branagh when Atticus turns to Arthur and says, “Arthur, thank you for my children.”

Senior, Adamarie Santiago, who took on the role of Calpurnia, was asked how she thought the various shows went, “This show held a special place in my heart.  It showed that everyone deserves to be treated equally.  Since this is my last year, this show gave me memories that I will never forget.  I was proud to be a part of something so beautiful and I thank everyone who made my last fall production so special.”

Gennesy Cintron, a sophomore here at HHS, landed her first lead role that of Scout Finch. She told the Clarion, “I was under immense pressure due to the fact that this was my first time in a lead role.  I knew I couldn’t let my fellow cast and crew down.  Fortunately, I had an amazing group of friends to help me and I’m grateful to have them all in my life.  Also, I’m extremely grateful to have had the privilege to play Scout Finch.”

Another fall production has come and gone, and it was nothing less than extraordinary.  Once again congratulations to the cast, crew, Mrs.Wright, Miss Griffin and Mrs. Hackett on another fantastic show. We are all excited to see what’s in store for the spring musical!
