Mr. Hawthorne: Marc Crilly

Mr. Hawthorne: Marc Crilly

Sarah Wisniewski, Staff Writer

It’s that time of the year again, where high school boys dress up and get on stage to bring a hearty laugh to an audience of high school students, parents, teachers, and more. It’s almost time for Mr. Hawthorne. Among the contestants, junior Marc Crilly is looking to make his debut in the male pageant.

Crilly is a member of the drama club, chorus, band, and finds himself also on stage during plays and musicals. His obvious talent is a product of hard work and motivation. Ms. Jill Hackett, the drama club advisor says, “I would describe Marc as very kind, silly, fun-loving, and delightfully surprised with himself.” She also mentioned his talent to play the ukulele, and advises Marc to wear “a grass skirt and coconut bra”while showcasing that talent.

The actor and musician decided to participate in Mr. Hawthorne because he enjoys performing and “making people happy through [his] talents and personality.” If you’ve ever seen Crilly perform you know he’ll never leave you without a laugh or cheek to cheek smile. Through these talents, the junior believes he has a pretty good chance of winning but says it will most surely be a challenge to conquer his opponents.

Speaking of his opponents, Crilly says “the competition is full of unique talent.” Junior Luke Sousa is said to be one of his more challenging competitors. He says, “Luke Sousa is one of the biggest personalities and I feel that he is going to be my biggest competition.” It sure is going to be a showdown between the juniors as well as the seniors who are also looking to earn the beloved crown.

If there is one thing for sure, it is that the audience is in for a treat. For Marc Crilly himself, he says, “You are definitely going to be surprised to what I bring to the table.”

Come out to support all the guys on March 3.

Best of luck to all the competitors!
