Two is Better Than One

Editor’s note: The twins of Hawthorne High School are excited to share their experiences of not only living together, but going to school together, having classes together, and sharing the same friends! This is the inside scoop on their future plans and daily lives as twins.

Clarion Interviewer: How is your relationship as siblings and friends?

Carly Manzi: We are really close and don’t argue a lot.  We get along well.

Nick Manzi: Pretty good, we never fight…and we do laugh a lot.

Dana Scherer: We’re basically each other’s best friend because having a twin is having a forever friend.

Meagan Scherer: I would say my relationship with my sister is pretty good. We always talk to each other about everything and laugh about random things.  We are always going to have our disagreements, but they’re never serious.

Justin Rodrigues and  Philip Rodrigues: We have a healthy relationship as siblings, and are close friends.

Marjes Castillo: Jay and I have a great relationship.  He is definitely my best friend and we tell each other everything.  We do have disagreements once and awhile, but they never last very long.

Jaycob Castillo: Marjes is one of my best friends.

Clarion Interviewer:Do you have any classes together? If so, do you enjoy being in the same class?

Carly Manzi: Yes, we have three classes together.  It is  great because we help each other out.

Nick Manzi: Yes, we have three classes.  We have inside jokes so it’s pretty fun.

Dana Scherer:  This is the first year we don’t have any classes together and it’s strange.  We always liked being in the same classes because if one forgot something, the other would have it and we could help each other.

Meagan Scherer:  This is actually the first year where I don’t have any classes with my sister.  It’s kind of weird.  But in past years where we’ve been in the same class, it was pretty helpful.  It was nice being in the same class with her because if I ever forgot a book or needed help with something I could always ask her.

Justin Rodrigues and Philip Rodrigues: We have three classes together; Advanced Media Arts Honors, 60s through 90s Honors, and Pre-Calculus.  We enjoy being in the same class very much, and we feel it makes the classes more fun to be in

Marjes Castillo: We have History, Health, and Journalism together.  With the classes that we don’t have together, we still have the same teachers.  Being in the same class has its advantages because we can study and do homework together.

Jaycob Castillo: I like having Marjes in my classes because we can collaborate on a lot of assignments, it’s also fun beating her.

Clarion Interviewer: Is there ever a competition with grades?

Carly Manzi: No, not unless the teacher makes it a competition!

Nick Manzi: Yes, all the time! Carly always wins because I think she tries more.

Dana Scherer:  No, there’s no competition!  We pretty much have the same grades.

Meagan Scherer:  There’s never really competition between us (grade wise).  We have around the same GPA, and I guess we just don’t have the energy to compete in school.

Justin Rodrigues and  Philip Rodrigues: There is not too much competition in grades, we are both proud members of the National Honors Society.  We do help each other study and support each other, kind of like our own pep squad!

Marjes Castillo: Yes! Everything’s a competition at my house, especially grades.  When we presented in History class we competed to see who had the better presentation.

Jaycob Castillo: I’m a competitor when it comes to everything, and really enjoy going head to head with Marjes everyday.

Clarion Interviewer: What do you least like about being twins?

Carly Manzi: I don’t like when people ask what it’s like being twins.

Nick Manzi: Having the same friends is a little weird sometimes, but not a big deal.

Dana Scherer:  Having to share everything is what I like least about being a twin because it gets a bit overwhelming when you share friends, classes, clothes, sports, etc!

Meagan Scherer:  I guess the thing I  like least about being a twin is also the thing I like the most: sharing everything.  We live in the same house and in the same room, go to the same school, have the same friends.  We are always together, and sometimes a person just needs their own space.  But at the same time, I like how close we are, and how we share everything.

Justin Rodrigues and Philip Rodrigues: Sharing everything gets overwhelming at times!

Marjes Castillo: We always get compared to each other even though we are completely different people. I also hate sharing everything!

Jaycob Castillo: I don’t like sharing everything, including our future car.
