A Motherly Figure For All

Sarah Kozrosh and Abby Reicher

High School years are not always easy, even though they are the best years of people’s lives. Sometimes you just need that motherly figure to step in at school, and for Hawthorne High School that is Mrs. Diane Maher. Mrs. Maher has been in the school district with the Class of 2019 for fourteen years. She is a mother of two children and a lot of us here at HHS. Mrs. Maher is everyone’s “go-to person” whenever anyone is having a bad day or wants to share good news. Always here to support us and cheer us on, Mrs. Maher never fails to put a smile on everyone’s face.

Clarion Reporters: How is your experience in the district so far?

Mrs. Maher: I’ve worked at four different schools and I loved working with the kids and the faculty in each school. I have worked in Jefferson Elementary School, Washington Elementary School, Lincoln Middle School, and now I work in Hawthorne High School. I have met a lot of faculty and students through my job and I’ve always been welcomed. I’ve always been welcomed whatever school I was in.

Clarion Reporters: What motivated you to work in this school district?

Mrs. Maher: There was a job opening and since I grew up in Hawthorne it was easy because Hawthorne has a special place in my heart. I went to St. Anthony’s for middle school and I grew to love this town.

Mrs. Maher is truly a genuine person who welcomes everyone with comforting arms. Thank you for everything you always do! We do not know what we would do without you!
