Good Study Habits

A skill that a majority of high school students lack are good study habits, which are crucial in some (if not most) classes. Good studying habits travel with you throughout the years and most importantly, into college. Good study habits also assist you in developing memory skills that can help you with future jobs or just in every day life.

Here are some quick tips to make any study develop good study habits:

  1. Don’t cram in everything you need to study! This can lead you to feeling overwhelmed. Spread out the things you need to learn. For example, if you need to study twenty vocabulary words, study five a day until the day of the assessment.
  2. Make flashcards with just a word and definition or you can draw a picture of something that reminds you of the word you are studying.
  3. Listen to music. No, not Drake or Kanye, but something with no words so you don’t get mixed up with what you’re reading. Maybe something like classical music from the eighteenth century. I know it’s old, but it helps.
  4. Exercise first. Exercising helps get the blood flowing to your brain which makes you more aware of things and more able to  learn.
  5. Most of all, relax and clear your mind! Just have faith in yourself and get enough rest.
