HHS Library In December

The Hawthorne High School Media Center has several things in store for the students this month. All sorts of happenings, such as the Senior & Teen Together program, the Hour of Code, Lunchtime Workshops, and even a Pop-Up Library.

Just recently, the Creative Writing Club joined a gathering with the senior citizens, creating poems and short stories about their favorite holiday memory.

Along with that, there are several things to do in the library during lunchtime; including learning how to play chess, 3-D print design and holiday ornament making, knitting workshops, and more.

On December 9th, an event called Hour of Code took place in the library computer lab. Hour of Code is a global movement  by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries through a one-hour introduction to computer science and computer programming.

The knitting/crochet program took place in November; all of the afghan squares that were made, were donated to ‘Warm Up America!’.
