It is Spring and that means Hawthorne High School baseball is back! Coach John Passero is looking forward to another successful season. The Clarion was able to catch up with coach and get some words on the upcoming season.

The Clarion: How do you feel about the upcoming season?

Coach Passero: We have a good amount of young talent being exposed to the Varsity level for the first time and I am hopeful for another league title.

The Clarion: How do you feel about the senior leadership on this team?

Coach Passero: Despite being a young team we have a couple of kids who have been on the varsity squad for a couple of years now. They are stepping up as leaders for the sophomores and juniors on the team.

The Bears have started the season 4-4 getting wins against Elmwood Park, Eastern Christian, Manchester, and Pompton Lakes. When asking starting pitcher Alex Ferriola about the upcoming season he was very ecstatic saying, “It’s my last High School Baseball season and I just want to go out with a bang. This year we are all shooting for another league title.”

Congratulations to the boys on a positive start, and good luck on the new season.
