8th Grade Shadowing Experience

Kieran McAllister, Editor

Last week, many students of Hawthorne High School took part in the 8th grade shadow experience.

Everyday of the week almost every 8th grader came to spend the day as a student attending Hawthorne High School. The HHS students were matched with someone with similar interests or classes from Lincoln Middle School. HHS has always offered shadowing, but this year, the school wanted to ensure that every 8th grader knew they had the opportunity to take part in a day at our school and to see how happy they would be if they attend HHS.

The LMS students came at 9:30 received a tour with their HHS student and then spent the rest of the day with them until 1:30 when they had a closing meeting with Mr. Gustav Schell. Many 8th graders loved their day at HHS and were filled with positive attitudes.

8th grader, Sophia Ulvik, said, “I thoroughly enjoyed today. I looked at Passaic County Technical Institute, but after today I like this school much better. I plan on attending HHS next year.”

Overall, this new experiment that HHS and the Board of Education has come up with was a success. The Clarion cannot wait to see all the new faces next September.
