Hour of Code

Hawthorne High School participated in the Hour of Code on Thursday December 7 as an in school field trip during fifth period, taking place in the HHS library computer lab for the third consecutive year.

This event was for those who wanted to learn about computer coding, improving coding skills, or advanced coding skills. Students were welcomed whether they were newbies or had experience in the past.

The “Hour of Code” sounds interesting, but what is it? The Hour of Code is a worldwide event that teaches students computer science. As society grows, technology grows as well. Sometimes it is hard to keep up with all of the changes and the understanding of the technology. If one has ever played a video game, they would understand that the whole game is coded: code meaning, a system of words, letters, figures, or other symbols substituted for other words, letters, etc..
