On January 26, 2018 Hawthorne High School hosted the second annual school wide volleyball tournament.

Just like last year, the tournament was a success with many participants and spectators. Last year an all teacher team called Block Party came in first beating a group of senior boys. This year, due to a possible basketball game that Friday night, the team disbanded: three of the teachers (Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Gerdes, and Mr.McMann) joined all new teams.

The teams met in the new gym at 6:30pm to prepare for the tournament. Volunteer referees set up three courts: two half courts in the main gym and one full court in the small gym. The tournament was set up on a bracket system, resulting in two final teams.

The game was very competitive, and team Blackout ended up winning. The members of Blackout were: Emily Adair, Kyle LaSpisa, Karim Yacob, Franko Otero, Stefan Zawojski, Eddie Ritchie, and Mrs. Gerdes.

Overall the tournament was a success and displayed a lot of school spirit!
