Most Successful Season: Boys’ Lacrosse
June 7, 2018
Coming into the spring season, the Hawthorne High School Boys’ lacrosse team started to prepare for a tough season ahead of them. With key players graduating last season, there were a lot of holes on the field to fill. Jared Chichizola went on to play at Marywood University. Joey Carr and Anthony Morano also graduated, leaving spots in the midfield. However, the other impact players like Joe Aliano, Jayden Paladino and other underclassmen are coming back with fight to make this year one to remember!
Ending the season last year with a 6-10 record, there was still potential for the next season. Coming into this season, Coach Carr and Coach Livingston set high goals for the team that were tough to accomplish, yet achievable. Many players, new and old, came in eager and ready to start making a name for themselves around the community and in the sport.
This season is the most successful season in the program’s history. With a few tough losses their record stands at 7-8 and right on the line of making it into states for the first time in program history.
On Monday May 14, the lacrosse committee had a meeting to place teams into the state bracket. Hawthorne High School Boys’lacrosse, for the first time in program history, made the state tournament! The team and program is extremely excited for this achievement and looking forward to more successes in the future.
