The 46th annual Under the Stars Festival, hosted by the Randolph Marching Rams Band, started at six in the afternoon and ran till almost (eleven) at night. After facing the brutal cold,  Hawthorne was the closing performance for the first half of the Randolph competition at 7:15. Hawthorne performed well and placed third in its size category,  just behind ( Pompton and Chatem ) by only a few points.

Midland Park hosted its 22nd Music in the Park marching band competition  on Sunday. It kicked off at 12:55 and ran till around five o clock.  Fifteen bands competed in the competition including Hawthorne High School.

Hawthorne competed against three other bands in its size category: River Dell Regional High School, Pompton Lakes High School, and Indian Hills High School. Closing out the Music in the park performance Hawthorne was the last to be scored before the host bands preformed in exhibition.

Hawthorne beat out all these bands and took home first place as well as best marching and best music.  Placing first by a wide margin of five points scoring a 74 while the rest of the other marching band all placed very close together with scores all in the 69s.
