Volleyball is a fun sport for all to play, whether that be in a gym, a park or on a sunny beach.

That’s why a group of male students here at Hawthorne High School have introduced the idea to have men’s volleyball here as a sport!

It all started in the second marking period during physical education, and the volleyball unit. Everyone loved it. But due to the temporary closure of the school in January, we missed a good portion of the unit.

Ryan Corella, HHS sophomore, went into Mr. Mazzacca’s office and asked if there was a possibility we could have a boy’s volleyball team in the spring.

Corella was told that if he were able to get a petition with signatures from multiple boys, at least 20, who were interested in participating in boy’s volleyball, he’d consider it.

Corella created the petition…he then began gathering signature after signature. He managed to gather over 34 names!

With this information, we may see a Spring Boy’s Volleyball Team sometime in the future. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
