Here at HHS, we have many different clubs and opportunities to be involved with: one of them being S.H.A.R.E.

S.H.A.R.E (Students of Hawthorne Acting Responsibly and Effectively) is dedicated to helping those in need locally. One of their most well-known activity is snow shoveling for the elderly. Even during the worst snowstorms, our amazing HHS S.H.A.R.E. members brave the cold temperature and slippery roads to help out those in need.

Some of S.H.A.R.E’s other events are donations/collections to a local food bank, holiday gift wrapping for shelters, reading to students in elementary schools and other “feel-good” focused, caring outreach.

This year once again S.H.A.R.E. has done something incredible. If you remember a few months back S.H.A.R.E. conducted a fundraiser with Gertrude Hawk chocolates and 100% of the proceeds went to Paterson’s Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that helps families build a place that they can call home. The organization was founded in Americus, Georgia, USA, in 1976. “Habitat for Humanity today operates around the globe and has helped build, renovate and repair more than 600,000 decent, affordable houses sheltering more than 3 million people worldwide.”

Paterson’s Habitat was founded in 1985 and will build its 300th home in 2022-23. They have helped over 350 families become homeowners. They are constructing their first project outside of Paterson- in Passaic in partnership with a local VFW and the City of Passaic.

And thanks to S.H.A.R.E’s contribution they were able to give Habitat for Humanity an extra $436.55 in profits and donations to be able to help this amazing organization. On May 10, 2022 (as pictured above) Phillip Keefe, Director of Advancement for Paterson Habitat for Humanity came to HHS to receive the SHARE donation and it was presented by SHARE student leaders seniors, Sydney Reicher, Sara Giardino, and Steven Sweetman.

Many Congratulations to S.H.A.R.E for this amazing achievement!
