Summer is all about good vibes. Beach days, endless nights, you name it. Watching a show or movie that values summer is able to bring real excitement for summer!! I’ve gathered up some shows and movies that I’m absolutely crazy about!
“Outer Banks” (Netflix series) – Teenager, John B, enlists his fellow Pogues, Sarah, Pope, Kiara, and JJ, to hunt for legendary treasure which he thinks is tied to the disappearance of his father. The show follows the Pogues (a title that John B and his friends gave themselves due to their wealth and because they live in the cut) while they are facing the challenge. The show also includes the Pogues seeking to overcome obstacles such as love, fighting, friendship, and money with the Kooks (wealthy kids, wannabe, or a poser who can’t hang with the real surfers).
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” (TV series) – “A love triangle between one girl and two brothers.” Belly, her mother, Laurel, and the brother, Steven spend the summer at Laurel’s best friend, Susannah’s beach house. Susannah has two sons Conrad and Jeremiah. When Belly was little, she always dreamed of herself with the older brother Conrad who paid no attention to her. Fast forward to the next summer, Belly had a huge glow up compared to last summer. Belly experiences her first love and heartbreak just in one summer between Conrad and Jeremiah.
“The Sandlot” (Movie) – A classic. It all starts when Scotty Smalls moves to a new town and unfortunately has no friends. He ends up meeting a bunch of boys who LOVE baseball. The boys spend their summer having adventures either on or off the sandlot. Every ball they owned had been hit over the fence into a backyard with a scary dog they call “Mr.Beast.” Smalls had a perfect idea when he remembered there was a ball in his step fathers room signed by Babe Ruth. He took the ball thinking it would be replaced in no time until uh oh… the Babe Ruth ball was hit over the fence.
“Blended” (Movie) – Two single parents, Lauren and Jim, go on a blind date. By the end of the blind date, they had no desire to see each other again. But oddly enough, they end up on the same African safari vacation with their kids. Throughout the trip, a bunch of funny and awkward situations occur between the two families, but they start to “blend” as a family in the most unexpected and heartwarming way.
“Mamma Mia!” (Musical) – The story follows Sophia, on a Greek Island who is about to get married. She wants her father to walk her down the aisle but the catch is she doesn’t know who he is! She invites three of her mom, Donna’s, past loves hoping one of them would be her father! The musical is set to catchy tunes from ABBA that follow the scenes with lots of singing, dancing, and touching mother-daughter moments.
“Weekend at Bernie’s” (Movie) – Two workers, Larry and Richard, are invited by their boss, Bernie, to spend the weekend at his beach house. Larry and Richard found out Bernies was plotting to have them killed. But things take a turn when Bernie is the one who ends up dead and the guys end up being stuck with his body. The boys pretend Bernie’s alive to avoid suspicion and keep the crazy party vibe going. The weekend is crazy especially when they are pretending their boss is alive!
