Peter and the Starcatcher was originally a novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. It was then adapted into a play with its first performance on February 13, 2009. The story serves as a prequel to Peter and Wendy by J. M. Barrie. The play has themes of greed, despair, and friendship.
The story is about an orphan boy who goes on an adventure with a girl named Molly Aster. The main characters of the play are an orphan boy, Molly Aster and Black Stache. The orphan boy at the start of the story doesn’t have a name and is referred to as “Boy.” Molly is the daughter of Leonard Aster who is a starcatcher. She wishes to prove herself to her father and goes on a mission.
Black Stache is the villain of the story and a pirate. Boy and Molly meet on a ship which starts their adventure. To understand the play a bit more we have to understand the term starcatcher. A starcatcher in the story is a guardian who protects a substance known as stardust that fell onto Earth.
I’m excited about this year’s fall production and cannot wait to see what they’ll produce. I hope that this article helped you understand the plot of Peter and the Starcatcher.
