The Hawthorne High School Bear’s Softball team came back stronger than ever after their two game losing streak. The first two games of the season were a little rough. It’s always hard coming back together as a team for a new season with the disadvantage of some players who graduated last year. The first two games were played against the best teams the Bears played off their regular schedule, Waldwick and Glen Rock. They lost to Waldwick 6-3 which is not bad at all and 11-4 against Glen Rock.
Anyways, losses are losses. Everyone learns from their mistakes, just like the Bear’s Softball Team did. They came back strong from those losses and kept a 5 game winning streak. During this 5 game winning streak, the Bear’s beat Midland Park in the First Responder Games Tournament, Butler, Manchester Regional, Paterson Charter, Eastern Christian, and Saddle Brook. Unfortunately this streak burned out after playing Wood Ridge at the Believe Tournament. They lost such a close game with the score being 4-3. Hopefully this streak can spark back up being that they just beat Ridgefield 12-0!
The Bears recently just got the 6th seed in the Passaic County Tournament. They played Eastside in the first round on Friday, April 25 and beat them 16-1. The Bears will now continue to the second round playing Wayne Valley on Thursday, May 1.

Seniors:
Senior, Karlie Stier, just recently broke the school record!!! She owns the most wins as a pitcher in Hawthorne softball history currently. She now has 58 wins! She also just recently reached her 100th hit and 500th strikeout on April 5 at Waldwick. She has been on the Varsity lineup since her freshman year! She has pitched almost every game so far since freshman year as well!
Senior, Alexis Palmer, caught most of Karlie’s strikeouts behind the dish the last 3 years.
The two form a perfect battery for the success of the Bears.
Senior, Zoelynn Hernandez, is the leader of the outfield. She plays left field. Zoe is one of our offensive threats at the top of our lineup.
