Homecoming season is one of the most exciting seasons during the school year.
Football games, the big block party, and homecoming voting are something the Hawthorne High School students look forward to each and every year.
For 2 years, Sophia Perez and Brian Almanzar, ran for homecoming court. Last year, their freshman year, they ran for Lord and Lady. Their run was successful, winning at the school’s first ever homecoming dance in 10 years.
This year, now sophomores, the two ran for Duke and Dutchess. They were successful again, their win being announced at the homecoming block party on October 1.
The Clarion conducted a brief interview Sophia and Brian, wondering about their opinions and feelings, concerning their win.
The Clarion: “What made you want to run again this year?’
Sophia/Brian: It’s very fun for us to run as best friends…for us to win again as best friends makes it even more special.
The Clarion: “How does it feel to win 2 years in a row?”
Sophia/Brian: It feels really amazing to know that there’s people who voted for us and wanted us to win. We feel very appreciated and supported.
The Clarion: “Will you run again next season?”
Sophia/Brian: Yes we will, there are only 2 years left in high school for us so it will be very fun to try to win again these next two homecoming seasons.
