The tri-state area is getting ready for the big snowstorm coming to the area today, January 2, 2014.
Meteorologist from Weather.com confirmed that a snowstorm is expected to hit the northeastern section of the country, which includes Hawthorne, this afternoon and last until midday Saturday. Meteorologist from both Weather.com and NewJersey.News12.com are predicting anywhere from 4 to 9 inches of snow in the tri-state area.
This snowstorm, known as Winter Storm Hercules, first hit the Midwest, leaving behind a large accumulation of snow. Winter Storm Hercules got its name due to its size and the strength.
Many schools around Northern Jersey are calling early dismissals for today, January 2, due to this storm, and many may be closing their doors for the safety of the students on Friday.
