Tragedy Strikes in New York

On October 31, a horrible terrorist attack took place a block away from the World Trade Center.

29-year-old Sayfulla Saipov, from Paterson, NJ, rented a pickup truck from a Home Depot store in Passaic, NJ and drove onto a bike path, running over pedestrians and bicyclists. He ended his spree after crashing into a school bus. He then pulled out a BB gun. He was shot by police and taken into custody. Eight people in total died and 11 are recovering because of this tragedy.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio had this this to say,  “This was an act of terror, and a particularly cowardly act of terror aimed at innocent civilians, aimed at people going about their lives who had no idea what was about to hit them.”

Sayfulla was a native of Uzbekistan who moved to several different places in the US. He has lived in Florida, Ohio, and most recently Paterson, NJ. Sayfulla was recently an Uber driver and received no complaints about his driving from riders. He appeared to be inspired by ISIS after police found a note near the truck that said the attack was done in the name of the terrorist organization.
