Parking: An Every Day Struggle

Imagine you are a senior student who has open lunch and you are running late getting back to school. The bell is going to ring in five minutes and you need to find a parking spot. At HHS you will never make it to class on time. You will probably end up parking a block or two away.

Every day is a struggle at Hawthorne High School for students to find parking during the school day. With licensed seniors, juniors, and staff all driving to school, parking is at a bare minimum.  There has to be a better way to deal with parking.

I believe there are a number of ways to solve the problem:

1. Only seniors and faculty should be allowed to drive to school. Therefore, there will be more parking spots for faculty and other seniors.

2. Or, let junior students drive to school, but give seniors parking passes to park in numbered spots assigned by a lottery system.

3. Or, create more parking for the entire HHS community by taking the basketball courts out that are down by the track. Not many people use them enough, and we could find another spot for a basketball court like in the Goffle Brook Park.

Parking at HHS is a major problem. I feel we should have a better parking system to make parking an easier task.
