New Year Resolutions have been a big part of the count down towards the New Year for many people. However, I know for myself, I have trouble sticking to a resolution. So when the clock struck midnight on 2013 and you thought of your new resolutions were you really ready to commit?
As 2013 began, many Hawthorne High School students posted resolutions of their own in the Library Media Center stating they wanted to eat healthier, lose weight, or to improve their grades in school. However, according to Health.com, only one in three Americans will be able to keep their promise throughout the New Year. But there are some tips that will help you stay on top with your resolution.
The Spectrum.com reported on Seth David Chernoff, life coach and author of The Manual of Living, offers these tips to help with your resolutions:
Tip number 1: Be realistic. If you set a goal to high you are setting yourself up to fail. You want to keep it simple.
Tip number 2: Pace yourself. Take your resolution one step at a time. Pacing yourself will help you reach your goal at a successful rate.
Tip number 3: Don’t worry if you fail. Simply start again. And don’t wait until next January. If you fail in March, pick up and start again in April.
It’s true that most people won’t be able to keep their resolutions–either from lack of support, confidence, or if you are like me, you are just bad at staying committed. But to change this failure rate, you just need to keep in mind the three tips above. Stay realistic, pace yourself, and don’t worry if you fail. These tips can carry you a long way in helping you stay with that resolution.
