Black Friday: A Thought
November 16, 2021
As the pandemic is hopefully coming to a close some retail stores will be closed on Thanksgiving and some of these stores might even be closed on Black Friday as well.
This has a lot of people scratching their heads. A store could see a hefty amount of purchases, so why are they closing?
After looking at several stores’ websites I found that the following stores would be closed: Walmart, Target, TJ Maxx, Bed Bath and Beyond, Old Navy, Petco, Best Buy, Costco, Bath and Body works, JCPenney, Kohl’s and Home Depot, (and many more).
Are these statements accurate? I’m not convinced…after years of most of these stores staying open on Thanksgiving, now they want to give their employees a break. After one of the worst periods for business they are closed for one of the most profitable days of the year. It might just be a way to cover up a lack of employees.
I went to the mall with some of my friends to watch a movie this month. After the movie was over we were walking around the mall and as we were going through some of the stores, some didn’t have that many employees working.
Here is an extended list of stores that will be closed on Thanksgiving, Walmart, Target, TJ Maxx, Bed Bath and Beyond, Old Navy, Petco, Best Buy, Costco, Bath and Body Works, JCPenney, Kohl’s, Home Depot, Dicks Sporting Goods, Lowes, Marshalls, Petsmart, Publix, Barnes and Noble, Ikea, Nordstrom, Gap, Footlocker, Office Depot, and Under Armor.
