Something I’ll always be open to talk about is shoes.

I could go on and on about which ones are the most comfortable, affordable, trendy, and so on. So I decided to take some time and observe what shoes I see around school.

Starting comfy, we have Uggs: they are easy to put on, they have various colors, different shapes like boots, slides, slippers, they even have fuzzy ones. This brand in general is worn a lot around school and I can clearly see why. They are very convenient: if you have to go out to the store real quick, you can just slip them on and leave. They have various different styles so each design can fall into a very different clothing aesthetic. Like the new ones that have built in leg warmers, that goes under a more coquette theme rather than the minimalistic styles using the plain black slippers.

Next, we’ve got affordable, and when we are talking about affordable everyone goes to Converse. These shoes you can get from 70 dollars to 90 dollars. And they last a pretty long time too. This is a very common sneaker to see at school. But there are some flaws in wearing this shoe. Most people around the school find the shoe to be uncomfortable. This is because they aren’t really meant to be supporting shoes. They are actually meant for a better sense of stability. The lack of cushioning on the shoe helps get a better grip than a shoe with a bunch of cushioning.

Then, we have the bare minimum, Crocs. Crocs have been a thing for ages now, I personally have hated them since a child, but i’ve grown to like them only out of convenience. Crocs have a very (and I mean VERY) wide selection of colors and designs. They often collaborate with various companies only leading to more designs. People around school wear Crocs bare with nothing on them, just one solid color. But there is a good majority of people who add “jibbitz.” Jibbitz are little charms used to decorate the Croc. They are inserted into the holes that are on the Crocs and they stay in place. And with the wide selection of colors, there is obviously an even wider selection of jibbitz. They have characters, items, buildings, letters, words, phrases and literally anything else you can think of. Crocs are also pretty affordable and they can be comfortable at times.

Lastly, there’s Yeezy Slides. These slides took over the schools fashion a few years ago when they first came out. They have a diverse selection of colors that can go with almost any outfit. These slides were made in collaboration with Kanye West and Adidas. They were made to be minimalistic and extremely comfortable. A majority of the boys in school wear these, they are a simple shape with sharp ridges at the bottom. These comfortable shoes are very cushioned and bouncy due to them being made of foam. They even provide some height, these are probably my favorite lounge shoes to wear when I don’t feel like wearing something too extravagant.

These are probably the most popular among the shoes worn around school, they will probably continue to be worn, some may go out of style, and some might even get more popular.
