Opinion: On the Josh Hutcherson Whistle Song

Josh...just+whistle...
Gage Skidmore
Josh…just whistle…

You’ve probably heard it in the halls, in class, or at lunch. Whether it’s people actually playing the song or simply whistling the tune of the song. It’s the Josh Hutcherson Whistle song.

The video on Youtube is called “Josh Hutcherson || Whistle” and was uploaded in October of 2014. The video originally was a fan edit in celebration of the actor Josh Hutcherson’s birthday.

Recently the music video has gone viral seemingly overnight for absolutely no reason. It’s unbelievable but that’s simply what teen humor in 2023 has become; and the reality is that this trend isn’t going to be around for long.

For example: the Smurf Cat meme; that meme was viral for around a week then it just went away. 2023 humor has simply become stupid in nature. Some people may say that our humor is “broken” because we sometimes laugh at a slice of bread falling over. It’s funny though.

Maybe that’s what has happened, we’ve all gone insane so we find the dumbest things to laugh at even if it’s not a meme.

Some people say that the Josh Hutcherson Whistle song became a meme simply because he starred in the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie and that film has been memed enough already.
