There is an interesting question I want you to think about.
If you had a magic wand and could change anything about your school, would you? And if there is a change you have in mind, what would that change be? If you’re a freshman like me, this question can be hard to answer as there is still so much to explore in Hawthorne High School. I do have my answer now, and here’s my take.
There can be many answers school wise like homework etc, but for me it has nothing to do with the school. As I firmly believe it’s not the environment you’re in, it’s the people you’re surrounded by while in the environment. So my final answer would be conflict and drama, and here’s why.
Drama and conflict is something that follows every school building. I feel that drama shouldn’t be categorized because of a specific town or school, even the nicest town you know has had at least a school fight or conflict. While school drama and conflict has been popularized and appreciated by other students, this doesn’t mean we should forget the mental effect this could have on the people involved.
- Like I said, school drama and conflict is popularized by school communities and seen more as a fun thing to watch than an actual problem that should be solved. This can escalate the problem and have more people wanting to be involved on either side. So it’s all fun and games until you’re involved in the conflict and you don’t even know why.
- When two people have a physical altercation, it’s normal for students to record the fight and send it to their friends. People need to realize how dangerous this is for the students and community. The students involved can feel a decrease within their mental state and feel trapped with one mistake made. This can also make your school look bad as this video is shared and shown to others inside or outside of the school. So instead of recording, stop the fight! Be the bigger person and do what u can!
