Millions of people across the world enjoy listening to music everyday.
For some people, music helps them relax and reduce anxiety. For others, listening to music also improves people’s quality of sleep, and it helps better their overall mood, making them happier when music is present. Playing your favorite genres of music and hearing your favorite artists’ songs is a great way to cope with stress and improve your state of mind. Some students can go from having a bad day to a good one by just putting on their headphones and playing their preferred artists and songs.
Nearly 82% of teens listen to music every day, which proves that music is a major part of high school students’ lives. For some students, it could be difficult to get through a whole day of school without listening to their favorite type of music in their headphones. Your favorite genre of music or favorite artist could show a lot about your personality, and it could also help you relate to or connect with others who may have similar music taste as you.
As a music lover myself, I also believe that sometimes it could be hard for people to go a whole day or two without listening to music. To add, I think it’s important to express your taste of music as well. My taste of music consists mainly of rap and pop. My favorite artists are Drake and Future. Additionally, one of my most-liked songs right now is I’m On One by Future.
HHS Students Favorite Music
In Hawthorne High School, the majority of students either have airpods in or headphones on in the hallways almost every single day. Since music is so important to high school students, it would be interesting to find out what these students are listening to on a daily basis. I interviewed three current students at HHS, in order to find out their favorite genres of music, their favorite artists, and their favorite song at the moment. The students I interviewed were Junior Dean Cohen, Junior Andrew Maskal, and Junior Isabella Lopez. Here’s what they had to say:
HHS student Dean Cohen’s favorite genres of music are pop and rap music. His favorite artists are Bruno Mars and Liangelo Ball. Dean’s favorite song is Tweaker by Liangelo Ball.
Next, Junior Andrew Maskals favorite music genres are music of Africa and Brazilian Funk. His favorite artists are Sam Smith and Imagine Dragons. Andrew’s favorite song at the moment is Thunder by Imagine Dragons.
Finally, Hawthorne student Isabella Lopez’s favorite genres of music are pop and R&B. Her favorite artists are Gracie Abrams and SZA. Currently, Isabella’s favorite song is Another Life by SZA.
These three students all demonstrate the wide variety of music that gets played in the headphones of HHS students. This proves how there is a big range of artists and songs that teenagers listen to daily. But, these three students alone are not enough to uncover all of the thousands of artists and songs that are favored in HHS. Some other popular artists in high schools today consist of Drake, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, The Weekend, Kendrick Lamar, and many more. This reveals how huge the span of music is that students listen to everyday, and how important music is to millions of high school students in the world.
