Almost every student has their phone on them in class: it’s either in the phone caddy or in a bin next to the teacher. One big question that students/teachers have is: should phones be allowed in school?
A majority of people think that having their phones in class is a good idea because it can be helpful in many ways. They can help by using them for emergencies like contacting a parent/guardian, or you can listen to music while silently doing work.
Other people think that having their phones in class is a distraction because students might want to go on social media, text friends or play games rather than get work done. It can cause them to miss important work and make it hard to focus on what’s going on in class.
Personally I agree with letting students have their phones in class because in case of an emergency it’s a quick grab. Other than using our phones responsibly in class, we shouldn’t be on our phones and should be paying attention in class and get our work done.
Some students may have difficulty putting their phones away, which can force the teacher to repeat instructions multiple times and waste valuable class time. I believe that if a student refuses to listen to the teacher about putting their phone away, there should be consequences for that behavior.
