January 15, 2019
The Clarion decided to interview our favorite Hawthorne High School security guard and (part-time Santa Clause) Scotty Verrone to learn a bit more about him.
The CLARION: How long have you been a security guard here at Hawthorne High School?
SCOTTY: This is currently my 3rd year working here.
The CLARION: What did you do before you worked here?
SCOTTY: Before, I was a lieutenant with the Paterson Police Department.
The CLARION: What is your favorite part of the job?
SCOTTY: My favorite part of this job would be dealing with the kids.
The CLARION: Why did you decide to work here at Hawthorne?
SCOTTY: I used to attend school here and I still live here in town. “Once a bear always a bear!”
The CLARION: What made you want to become a security guard?
SCOTTY: I retired from the police department, I was bored and I got offered this job.
The CLARION: How do you like to spend your free time?
SCOTTY: On my free time I like to read a lot, go hunting, or play cards.
The CLARION: What were/are the best moments for you here at Hawthorne High School?
SCOTTY: When I come and get dressed up as Santa Claus and take pictures with all the kids.
