At Hawthorne High School, there are 11 new teachers in the building this 2020=2021 school year. The Clarion was able to interview one of these new teachers, Ms. Hana Selimovic, and asked her a few questions.

Clarion:What subject(s) do you teach?

Ms. Selimovic: I teach Biology,  Anatomy and Physiology.

Clarion: What college did you go to?

Ms. Selimovic: I went to Ramapo College and I majored in biology. I am still enrolled at Ramapo and getting my masters in special education

Clarion: What made you want to become a teacher?

Ms. Selimovic: I have always dreamed of being a teacher! Ever since I was little, I would write pretend lesson plans and act like I was giving homework and handing out A+ to everyone! Becoming a teacher was much more for me, because I want to give students someone they can feel comfortable with in the classroom. Helping students, caring for them, and making Biology fun is what will make school just a bit more enjoyable. Giving students a class (and teacher) to remember and love is my goal.

Clarion: If you could have any other career, what would it be and why?

Ms. Selimovic: Teaching has, and always will be, my number one choice in careers. BUT if I had to choose, I would like to probably be a famous actor or model lol or an astronaut…I have always wanted to see the moon up close.
