New Faculty Member: Gabe Kotter

Rufus T. Firefly, Staff Writer

If you have noticed a new face in the hallways of HHS over the past three weeks, well relax…it’s just Hawthorne High School’s newest History teacher, Gabe Kotter.

Kotter previously taught History at James Buchanan High School in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.

The Clarion was lucky enough to spend a few minutes with this gifted educator and to ask him two very important questions.

Clarion: We know you are very busy teaching and getting acclimated to your new surroundings, so thank you for sitting down with us. First question: What are the biggest differences between HHS and the high school that you previously taught at?

Kotter: One, is the administration at HHS is top notch. At my old school Principal Woodman was quite difficult to navigate. Two, the kids here at HHS are wonderful…at the old school, there were sweathogs everywhere.

Clarion: I guess our next question is pretty simple…why Hawthorne?

Kotter: What a lot of people don’t know, is that I actually attended HHS for my first two years of high school, before the family moved to New York. Basically, I am home again.

The Clarion hopes this educator continues to have a positive experience at his new/old school. Welcome back, Kotter!
