HHS junior, Kirsten Meneses, is now a published poet. Her poem “Ode to my Pillow,” originally written for Theresa DiGeronimo’s English III class, has been selected to be published in the anthology A Celebration of Poems and HHS literary magazine, The Empyrean.
“Ode to my Pillow”
As smooth as the skin of a newborn after a warm bath
Attentive when I am speaking
Absolutely never callous like cold ice when I am weary
Like a soft tissue that will wipe away my tears
My head’s number 1 fan
The boxing glove when playing pillow fight
Instead of counting sheep
My pillow can sing a lullaby that will make me fall asleep.
