Senior at Hawthorne High School, Mackenzie Sanint, is ending her senior year on a high note as an honor student who is planning to design, build, and even create a greater future as an architect.
As the end of senior year approaches, Sanint is ready to move onto college, and although she has yet to decide where she will be attending college, Sanint is certain about her major. She wants to major in Architecture and Civil Engineering. “I am fascinated with buildings and always catch myself thinking of how I can incorporate some of its features into my own designs. I also look at old unkempt buildings and think of how I could change them for the better.”
Sanint keeps herself challenged in high school with a rigorous honors and AP course load. One of her classes, AP Physics, has helped her finalize her decision to become an architect or civil engineer. She loves to know how things work, how to design things, and how these two things work together to create the world around us. Talented in the math and science areas, architecture and engineering are perfect fits for Sanint.
As if challenging classes and all the worries of senior year were not enough, Sanint is extremely involved in Hawthorne High School activities. She is a member of the National Honor Society and also its secretary. Sanint is also part of the chamber chorus, the jazz band, the concert band, and is involved in the school plays. She is in this spring’s production of Singin’ in the Rain. One of her biggest roles, however, is as the drum major of Hawthorne High School’s marching band. This takes up a huge chunk of time out of her life. She directs the band and makes sure everything is going smoothly. Outside of school, Sanint is an active member of her youth group at the Hawthorne Gospel Church.
Because she is such an ambitious, hard-working, and committed student, Sanint is going to thrive in college and become very successful afterwards. In 10 years, Sanint sees herself working for an architecture firm designing new housest. Our future may one day lie in the hands of Mackenzie Sanint, and knowing this gives hope for a brighter and better tomorrow.
