Adam Reilly is a junior here at Hawthorne High school. He is a 2 sport athlete, involved in Basketball and Track. Reilly is a strong student from academics to sports. He is currently taking 3 honors classes and 1 AP class which include, English 3 Honors, Pre-Calculus Honors, Biology Honors, and AP US History. He has a GPA of 4.2.
Reilly is the starting center for the Hawthorne Bears basketball team who are currently sitting at 5-3 on the season. He currently has 108 points so far hitting his career high this season with 27 points in one game. He has 542 points in his career at HHS.
The Clarion: How do you manage playing at a high level of basketball and maintaining the high GPA that you have?
Adam Reilly: I play at a high level of basketball, maintaining the GPA I have by using my time wisely to finish my work and study for tests. Also, by paying attention in class it helps me be more prepared for tests and that gives me more time to focus on basketball.
The Clarion: What motivates you to play a high level of basketball?
Adam Reilly: The thing that motivates me to play basketball at a high level is my love for the game of basketball.
The Clarion: Any advice for incoming freshmen that want to be student-athletes?
Adam Reilly: Some advice I have for incoming freshmen who want to be student-athletes is to figure out how to manage your time and to try and finish as much work you can during class.
The Clarion: What’s something you want to accomplish before graduating on and off the court?
Adam Reilly: Something I want to accomplish on the court is to score 1000 points and off the court I want to grow my collection of sports cards.
The Clarion: What are your plans after high school?
Adam Reilly: My plans for after high school are to play basketball in college and then either play professionally or get a job that’s involved with sports.
