Senior Veronica O’Neill will be attending Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY next fall and will continue to enjoy her passion in basketball.
O’Neill was recruited at a Keystone Invitational Shootout, where college coaches from all around the country watch the best players from each state. She also sent game footage and background information to Skidmore College.
“I’ve played basketball since the fourth grade, and it’s always been a dream of mine to play in college. I am so glad to see that all my hard work and dedication both on the court and in the classroom paid off,” O’Neill said.
During the recruiting process, O’Neill visited with Skidmore’s Darren Bennett, a former assistant coach for the women’s basketball team at Harvard University. She stayed for a weekend with the team, getting to know her future teammates and getting to see what college basketball was really like.
O’Neill said, “I am truly excited that I am going to be playing basketball at the college level and at the same time study at such a prestigious academic institution. It is truly a dream come true.”
O’Neill is thinking of majoring in history or government. She is hoping to attend law school after college.
