One of the much-anticipated sports this upcoming winter season is wrestling. With ith new head coach Joe Mazzacca and the absence of the Ramos brothers,
Replacing Head Coach Robert Pasquale, Coach Mazzacca is not new to wrestling. He has been an assistant coach at HHS for eight years. “Now, to become a head coach of a program in which I grew up in is a dream come true,” explained Mazzacca. The staff also includes assistant coaches Matt Ambrose, Josh Kabrel, Robert Pasquale, Frank Riley, and John Stokes.
As the season begins, a question on everyone’s mind is: “Now that Ethan and Evan Ramos have graduated from HHS, how will the team do without these strong leaders?” Both Head Coach Mazzacca and Assistant Coach Josh Kabrel expressed how the Ramos brothers will be missed. “Of course we will miss Ethan and Evan; they were phenomenal wrestlers. They were once-in-a-generation type of wrestlers with extreme talent and dedication to work,” said Mazzacca. However, both coaches still predict a great season. Assistant Coach Kabrel explains, “Despite the loss of the Ramos borthers, we have a good group of kids that know how to work hard and will be good examples for newer wrestlers.”
Both head and assistant coaches are excited about the upcoming season. They hope to grow as a team throughout this year and get better each and every day.
