HHS Baseball Field: The Makeover Begins

Daniel Sweetman, Staff Writer

The Hawthorne High School baseball field is getting a makeover. Last year, there were rumors and talk of this possibility and many players are excited to see it now in action. The dugouts have been repainted black, along with the new Bears logo on the trailer in center field.

Earlier last week, the infield grass was dug up. This action officially launched the makeover. The field is now just clay and dirt and new grass is ready to be installed. All of the players that have played on the field can agree that the infield grass has had a lip at the end of it, and should be repaired. This made it hard to predict where hard hit ground balls were going to bounce and often times turned a simple play into a tough one.

Overall, players and coaches alike, appreciate the work being put into the field and can’t wait to see how it comes out. Stay tuned for an update after the field is finished.
