Enes Kanter

Enes+Kanter

Enes Kanter is professional basketball player who currently plays for the Portland Trail Blazers.

The borderline all star started his basketball career in Turkey where he originally grew up. His father was a professor at one of the top colleges in Turkey.  At a young age, his father wanted Enes to go to the United States to get a better education.

After he was done with college here in the States, Kanter then returned to Turkey to continue basketball.  The national team eventually picked him up and then he was drafted into the NBA in 2011 by the Utah Jazz.

Today, Kanter is wanted by the Turkish government because of the way he spoke out against them to the public.  As a result, Kanter may have trouble leaving the U.S. because of the dangers of being captured and jailed by the Turkish government. He can’t be captured in the U.S. because he is protected and safe on this soil. If he travels overseas, his safety cannot be guaranteed.

Through his NBA career Kanter has played for 4 teams.  Originally drafted by the Utah Jazz then traded to the Thunder.  After a couple of seasons there, he was then traded to the New York Knicks. He was eventually waived and picked up by Portland.

Now he has a grounded role on the Portland squad, where he is shown to be effective and has shown strengths where the team needs it.
