On April 25, the NFL draft was held. It is an event all football fans look forward to because they are excited to get new and talented football players on their favorite teams. People seemed to be perfectly fine with some of the picks, but when it came time for the New York Giants at the 6th pick, fans became infuriated at the choice the team made.

For their overall 6th pick, they chose Duke University’s Daniel Jones. Giants fans, sportscasters, commentators, and analysts pretty much all agreed for Jones to be at least the 17th pick. They all said Dwayne Haskins, from Ohio State University, should have been the 6th pick but obviously that didn’t happen. Dwayne Haskins ended up being the 15th pick for the Washington Redskins. The reactions for Daniel Jones being the 6th pick was a mixed bag. There was some positive feedback and some very negative feedback.

Giants fans have every right to express their feelings concerning the situation, but some not all, should’ve at least have been more respectful and mature about it instead of having outrage. Some even saying, “I’m going to be a Cleveland fan from now on.” I found some of those comments childish and unnecessary. I feel like it’s unfair for the amount of hate Daniel Jones has gotten. He hasn’t even stepped on the field yet. He had it rough at Duke University and some of his stats weren’t that great.

Which is probably because his team at Duke wasn’t the best and dropped many catch-able passes. I think this is Daniel Jones’ time to shine, and to prove everyone wrong. He has to show what he is capable of doing to become a good quarterback. He has what it takes and it shows through his interviews. Even his coach from Duke, David Cutcliffe (who coached the Manning brothers) thinks he got what it takes. For sure, Eli has his back.
