Brian Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner have secured the best pitcher of our generation, Gerrit Cole. The 29 year old right-handed pitcher from Newport Beach California has signed a 9 year $324 million dollar deal with the New York Yankees.

Cashman and the Bronx Bombers have passed on stars like Manny Machado, Bryce Harper, and Patrick Corbin in the previous offseason for this very moment. Gerrit Cole was their guy. Originally drafted 28th overall by the Yankees in 2008 MLB Draft, Cole decided to go to UCLA and became the 1st overall pick in the 2011 draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Cole had a few good years and a few bad in Pittsburgh before being traded to the Houston Astros on January 13, 2018.

Cole’s career turned for the best during his tenure in Houston. In 2018, he finished with a 15-5 record and a 2.88 ERA. His 2019 was somehow better. Cole finished with a 20-5 record 2.50 and over 300 strikeouts. That, along with the monster postseason, solidified he was going to get paid.

Brian Cashman flew out to California to meet with Cole a few days before the Winter Meetings in San Diego. He brought Cole’s idol Andy Pettite, which sealed the deal. The decision came at midnight. Fans couldn’t contain their excitement for their new star.

The Savages have their ace. Making the Yankees have one of the best rotations in baseball with Cole, Severino, Paxton, Tanaka, and Montgomery. The chase for 28 is just starting for the Bombers, and the fans are ready to finally win again.
