Senior Paul Valentin Goes Pro

On March 18, 2020 the new league year for the NFL started.

Big faces like Tom Brady and Todd Gurley switched teams. This was one of the most interesting free agency periods in NFL history as all sports were cancelled. The biggest news was when the New York Giants offered a high school senior a multi-million dollar deal!

That senior is Paul Valentin from our very own Hawthorne High School!

When GM Dave Gettlemen was asked why he would offer a 69 year $420 million deal to a 17 year old kid, he replied with:

“He is a hog-molly, and I believe he is going to be a Hall of Famer.”

The deal was reported by ESPN reporter Adam Schefter and caused ripples throughout Twitter. Nobody could believe it was real, not even scouts.

The NCAA released a statement as well:

“He is technically a college athlete, so we plan on taking all his money.”

High school seniors across the United States could not believe the news, how does a 0-star recruit get an NFL offer out of high school. One user tweeted, FlightReacts, tweeted that he is on a 5-day contract. Mr.Valentin reportedly accepted the offer and will be in line for a starting RT job when camp opens.

We here at The Clarion wish nothing but the best for our very own Paul Valentin in his journey in the National Football League.
