The NFC East: The Worst Division in Football

Tom Tricoli, Staff Writer

This NFL season will certainly be one to remember, from explosive rookies like Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert, to superstars in new cities like Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski.

But perhaps most interesting of all is the disaster that is the NFC East. While every other division has one or two teams in serious playoff contention, the NFC East has been awful. Not a single team in the division has a winning record.

As of week 8 the Eagles lead with a 3-4-1 record followed by the Washington Football Team at 2-5, the Cowboys at a measly 2-6 and lastly the Giants at a pathetic 1-6. For the first time in years, a team might make the NFL playoffs despite having a losing record as the top finisher in each division makes the postseason.

Not a single one of these teams is playing well by any stretch of the matter. The Eagles lead despite awful quarterback play from their franchise QB Carson Wentz and a plethora of injuries. The Cowboys have lost both Dak Prescott and Andy Dalton to injuries and are now starting third string QB Ben DeNucci selected this past year in the 7th round of the NFL Draft. DeNucci was fine for being a third string QB during his debut game this past Sunday night (11/15). The Cowboys defense has also been one of the worst in the league so far this season.

Washington and New York are two franchises who have been irrelevant for years now and things only seem to be getting worse for the two, Washington has shuffled through a few starting quarterbacks and the Giants lost Saquon Barkley to a gruesome ACL tear.

As of this article being written the Giants are preparing to face Tom Brady’s Buccaneers, but a New York victory seems very improbable. Fans of any of the four NFC East teams will definitely be trying to forget about this disastrous season as soon as possible.
