Bear’s Quarterback Returns

Troy Eckert was set to come into the 2020 football season as the starting quarterback for the HHS Bears. That is until he needed to get surgery on his elbow in the summer before the start of the season.

“It was a long process, and I had to have lots of patience to go to physical therapy. It was tough on my mental state” stated Troy when asked how he felt going through the process of recovering.

The process was not easy, Troy watched from the sidelines as his team went 4 and 2 last season.

Now with Eckert at 100% he is prepared to help lead his team to a state championship.

“To win a state championship” stated Eckert when asked what the team’s number one goal is this season. The Bears are 2 and 1 so far this season with 2 big wins against Becton and New Milford and a double OT loss to Rutherford. Eckert’s personal goal is to “lead the offense and score.”

When asked what his role on the field was he stated, “is to lead and control the offense and be a leader.”  The Bears take on the Glen Rock Panthers on October 1. This is a very big league game for the Bears who lost last season to Glen Rock.

“I feel very excited and ready to play them and it would be great to win in front of the home crowd of students and parents, especially because the game is homecoming and a big game for the league standings.” Concluded a confident Eckert.
