HHS Boys Basketball

The HHS Boys Basketball team’s season has come to an end this past week, and they had a decent season considering the circumstances.

The Bears ended the season with a record of 8-10, and sadly didn’t make the state tournament at the end of the season. The Bears leading scorer this season was Michael Palmer who averaged 13 points a game.

The Bears had a very young lineup this season including starters Ryan McFarlane, Julian Gonzalez, and Dylan Cambian who were all underclassmen this past season. The senior starters that will be leaving the program this year are Michael Palmer, Lirim Sulejmani, and James Reyes.

The boys had a rough season this year due to the inconsistency of players they had, and COVID-19 heavily affected the lineups going into the games. Multiple people got COVID-19 towards the beginning of the season which caused almost half the team to be quarantined for a good two weeks.

The Bears had wins against Elmwood Park, Lodi, Paterson Arts, Garfield twice, Manchester Regional, Butler, and Leonia. The Bears lost to Rutherford twice, Manchester Regional, Pompton Lakes twice, Passaic Charter, Elmwood Park, Glen Rock twice, and Lodi.

The Bears suffered some tough losses throughout the season, especially to Passaic Charter in the Passaic County Tournament in which they lost by 5 points.

The team did end their season off with a win against Leonia which is a positive in its own sense, and maybe they could have some momentum moving into next season.
